Los Angeles, CA to Lake Tahoe, NV

If you live in California and haven't visited Lake Tahoe: I am unfriending you on Facebook!..haha jk

Places to stop by to see in between, from LA to Lake Tahoe for you and your pooch. Starting from route hwy 14 to hwy 395 and hwy 50.

Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon State Park is on hwy 14, Abbot Drive, Ricardo, California (about 2hrs from LA). Trail head starts 400 ft from hwy 395. Visitor's Center about 1.5 mile away if continue on Abbot Drive.
Mono Lake Trail

Mono Lake is on hwy 395, a little south from Lundy Lake. We took Picnic Shortcut Rd (right off hwy 395). It takes you immidiatelly to the parking lot and Mono Lake Trail. Absolutely stunning!
Dogs are allowed on a leash. This Mono lake is about 5 hours from LA.

Lundy Lake Canyon Trail
Lundy Lake Canyon Trail is on hwy 395 (about 5 hrs from LA). Turn West on Lundy Canyon Rd, trail-head begins in 2 miles. After 2 miles the road gets ruff.  That is where we stopped driving and started hiking. There is a creek running along that trail, fun time for your doggy. You'll see few fishermen near by the lake.

Spooner Summit

Spooner-to-Kingsbury trail / Tahoe Rim Trail is on hwy 50 (in Lake Tahoe, 8 hrs from LA).
Directions: Where Highway 28 meets Highway 50, you need to stay on Highway 50 and drive about 0.7 miles. The trail-head parking lot is on the right, which has room for 20 cars. Spooner-to-Kingsbury trail-head has a pit toilet and several picnic tables in a nice setting under a grove of aspen trees. The trail-head is about 14 miles northeast of South Lake Tahoe on Highway 50. There is no access to water on a trail, bring plenty of water. Hiking naked on this trail is not recommended ...hehe..I kid I kid. Meaning it is populated. Here you will run into some bikers and hikers, everyone I ran into is very nice and friendly.

Trail/Pond view from the hotel
Lakeside Inn And Casino, Lake Tahoe, NV hwy 50. This was our final destination at the dog friendly hotel & casino. Highly recommended: dog friendly, stuff is very professional, very helpful and nice. Also, there is a casino and two restaurants in the hotel and some friendly local patrons  ;) After hiking with your dog, you can escape for couple hours to play or watch some sports while your doggy is taking a break from you to rest  ;)

From hotel trail to Nevada Beach
Also a huge plus, there is a trail right next to the hotel. The trail will take you and your Fido to Nevada beach and Nevada Beach Campgrounds in Lake Tahoe. It's about 1.5 miles to get to the beach from the hotel or stay on a trail to go further for a scenery hike.
More pix are here.

Fall season at its best and sharing it with you makes it that much better! Cheers! -Ella & Ava ;)
