Here are 3 things that you shouldn't try to attempt in your tent: 

1. Testing bear pepper spray. 

2. Sleeping-In is not going to happen even if you had a bottle/box of wine the night before.

3. Drinking wine without spilling it, nope, not gonna happen.

Runyon Canyon Hike

This well-known park is great for socializing and exercising with your pup. Usually, we pick more isolated trails, but we sure enjoyed this popular park.

Ava (my dog) and I were back in Mammoth this year to play in the snow with some friends and try something new for 2013. Cross country skiing with my pup has never crossed my mind until 1 week ago.

Tough Mudder SoCal#2 & Big Bear Hike

Big Bear week-end was incredible and full of fun memories ;)

It all started with a ‘little’ warm-up (before hiking with Ava) - Tough Mudder , Snow Valley Resort, Saturday July 7^th  8:00am wave! 10+miles up mostly/down hill course with 21 challenging obstacles. This was an amazing experience and I sure will be doing another one in 2013 or maybe even sooner.

Spruce Grove- Backpacking & Camping trip

Ava and I are back from our 1 night backpacking and camping at the Spruce Grove camp, located at the Angeles National Forest. It was an amazing first time experience, backpacking and camping!

We did a pretty good job packing and could of stayed another couple of nights with all the food supplies and clothes that I carried. Plus the running creek along the trail and at the campsite would provide plenty of water to drink from (using water filter/pump recommended).



Murphy’s Ranch/Secret Stairs-Rustic Canyon, Pacific Palisades

This is a historical hike where a Nazi compound was once built. It was housed to Adolf Hitler's supporters in the event if Hitler was going to occupy America. 

 

The camp site is tucked away in Rustic Canyon, Santa Monica Mountains. The old buildings, or what’s left of them, has become popular with graffiti artists. The mysterious history of this site has turned into a work of art in some parts of these structures.

It is time to do the Rattlesnake training.

Spring is here ;) and the rattlesnakes are coming out of the hibernation.

Please, train your dog to avoid these predators especially if you planning to go hiking, backpacking and camping.

Or get a honey badger  ;)

I signed Ava up for the next week-end at the Rattlesnake Clinic in Santa Clarita, before we'll start backpacking around in Cali (can't wait;) There are few other places that offer Rattlesnake  training for your dog.

I also am going to have my dog, Rattlesnake vaccinated this week. The vaccine works, not necessarily protects your dog from, the snake venom, that travels through the bloodstream, destroying tissues and causing swelling, internal bleeding, and intense pain. However, the vaccine slows this toxic process getting to the bloodstream and tissues, and gives you and your dog more time to get to the vet and the appropriate care for your dog. 

National Park Week




Entrance fees (but not camping fees) will be waived during from April 21 to 29, providing a wonderful opportunity to visit the national parks.
